GOC warns students

Seventy eight per cent of optometry and dispensing optics students successfully applied to renew their General Optical Council registration by the July 15 deadline.

This represents a 3 per cent decrease in the percentage of students who have missed the deadline, but the GOC is warning those who have not yet renewed to do so by August 31 or face removal from the registers.

GOC registrar and chief executive Dian Taylor said: 'The majority of students have renewed their registration on time. This has saved them the late application fee and ensured they are not putting their optical training and future career in jeopardy.'
