The General Optical Council has announced a £50 fee for those practitioners wishing to submit paper-based CET records for verification.
The General Optical Council this week froze its fees for 2006/7. The standard registration or retention fee will remain at £169, restoration at £239 and student registration at £20. But a two-part renewal fee will be introduced for registrants who apply for retention where their CET records are paper-based.
The first part, of £169, will be paid at renewal as usual, with a further £50 fee payable on submission of paper-based CET records for verification.
This week’s meeting of the GOC Council agreed the fee, which reflects the significant additional administrative burden and costs of processing paper submissions.
The Council praised the support being provided to those unfamiliar with IT systems by the professional and representative bodies and some CET providers.
