A revised timetable for GOS contract regulations in England has been published by ABDO, FODO, the AOP and the British Medical Association.

It outlines significant changes which will come into effect on August 1. Under the new arrangements, a contractor on one PCT list is allowed to perform primary ophthalmic services in any PCT in England.

All existing contractors have the right to a new contract but will have to formally notify the PCT by the end of May.

Other changes include the end of 'grandfathering' arrangements. Owners who currently operate under this system can become contractors in their own right.
