The Government has today announced that it will impose a 1 per cent increase in fees for services provided under the GOS contract.
It has determined that the NHS sight test fee should be increased to £21.31 dating back to April 1 2015.
The Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) said it rejected the increase, which was described as disappointing.
OFNC chair Mike George said: ‘We are deeply disappointed that this fee has been imposed upon the sector, without agreement or any apparent regard to the evidence submitted.
‘And it is even more disappointing given the significant extra funds that are being invested by the Government in other areas of primary care.
