​New terms for the GOS are to come into force in Scotland

New terms for the GOS are to come into force in Scotland 10 years after the introduction of free NHS eye examinations in the country.

Due to take effect from October 1, the updates give optical professionals more freedom to make decisions based on individual patient needs.

Changes include revised reason codes and fee structures for Enhanced Supplementary Eye Examinations (ESEE), which have seen a fee increase, and revised maximum frequencies and early re-examination codes for Primary Eye Examinations (PEE), where practitioners can claim for an ESEE if necessary.
