Gotta have faith

Susannah Way, receptionist and frame stylist at Ellis and Killpartrick in Bath (pictured), had her jewellery creations exhibited at museums in London and Florida.

Way’s ‘Freedom! ‘90’ piece was shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum and was created to promote diversity and equality.

The trinket box was named after the George Michael song and referenced the lyrics and video, as well as his time spent in the band Wham! It featured six tapered rods breaking through a framed picture that referenced the exploding guitar from the video and six rainbow-coloured guitar strings that indicated Michael’s sexuality.

A further two of Way’s jewellery designs were displayed at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach in Florida, US as part of the Vedant Bodies exhibition.

The intention of Verdant Bodies was to highlight topics such as ecology, evolution, species relationships and cultural implications. The ‘Mycelium’ necklace and earrings that were selected were based on the relationship between trees and mushrooms, highlighting mycelium as a precious natural resource.
