The government has commissioned research into the causes of night-time headlight glare, following advocacy led by the College of Optometrists.
Working alongside the RAC and with support from Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town, the College championed this initiative on behalf of the optical sector.
Headlight glare has resulted in many drivers, particularly older drivers, refraining from driving in the dark because of safety concerns.
RAC road safety spokesperson, Rod Dennis, remarked: ‘Understanding what’s causing these problems and, most importantly, what can be done about them in the future will be a huge step forward for drivers.’
