
Lilian Greenwood MP committed the government to outline its plans on pavement parking, an issue left unresolved since the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) first raised it in 2020.
Vivienne Francis, chief of strategy and public affairs at the RNIB, welcomed the announcement and said: ‘Finally, we get to hear plans to address the dangers of pavement parking after years of the issue being continually kicked down the road.’
Dr Scott Arthur, Labour MP for Edinburgh West, raised the urgency of empowering towns and cities across England to enforce pavement parking bans where needed, highlighting the dangers posed to people with sight loss.
