GrandVision, the world’s largest operator in retail optics, is to enter the US market following the acquisition of multiple For Eyes Optical.
The US chain, which was founded in 1972, employs approximately 1,000 people and operates through a network of 116 practices, located mostly in the metropolitan areas of Chicago, Washington DC and Philadelphia, as well as in Florida and California.
New owners GrandVision NV said the revenue in 2014 was approximately $100m.
The transaction was expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2015. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed and neither company offered a comment.
GrandVision NV has more than 5,800 stores around the world and is currently present in 43 countries across Europe, Latin America and Asia. The stores operate under 33 local retail banners that include Vision Express and lenstore.co.uk in the UK.
