Greener BCLA

Conferences

Eco-friendly initiatives have been announced by the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) ahead of the 37th clinical conference and exhibition (June 6-9).

Organisers said the Manchester Central venue was accredited with the ISO 20121 international standard for sustainable events management. Additional measures at the show will include recycled delegate bags, pens, lanyards and printed materials.

BCLA events manager Sarah Greenwood said the organisation wanted to be recognised for sustainable activities that reduced waste and energy use.

Initiatives scheduled for 2014 include a reduction in printed materials and the implementation of apps and QR codes for communications.
