The guidance covers use of the logo, legalities and artwork, following requests from the optical profession for more clarification.

Research had found 95 per cent of the public recognise the NHS logo and associate it with trust and credibility, according to NHS England, which vowed to help increase the visibility of optical shared care services.

The logo could be used on external fascias, window vinyls and barriers, internal panels, boards, leaflets and posters about NHS services, corporate websites, stationary and uniforms, the guidelines stated.
