Guilty verdict

Dispensing optician John Gill has been found guilty of performing a sex act on himself while giving a 14-year-old girl a visual field test at his practice in Knottingley, West Yorkshire.

Gill was found guilty by a jury at Leeds Crown Court last week, having already been convicted of a second charge of committing an act outraging public decency in his practice window, which was witnessed by two women (News 13.11.09). They reported Gill to the police having seen publicity over the later incident with the schoolgirl. She had attended the practice last August to pick up some contact lenses and realised Gill had his hand in his trousers during the test, according to the Yorkshire Post, November 12.
