Haag-Streit UK has been named sole UK distributor for the CenterVue MAIA microperimeter (pictured).
The company said the deal followed successful sales of the DRS non-mydriatic retinal camera, launched in the UK in January 2011. The MAIA has a confocal line scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO), real-time eye-tracker and 4-2 threshold fundus perimetry.
'The MAIA is designed to identify the normal age-related decrease in sensitivity and differentiate it from pathological changes associated with macular degenerations and other retinal diseases,' said Jacqui Kenyon, HS-UK's CenterVue product manager. 'The MAIA has proven results of over 90 per cent sensitivity and specificity in the detection of early and intermediate AMD.'
