Heidelberg Engineering has announced that Professor John Nolan is the recipient of its Xtreme Research Award 2020 for his macular pigment research.
Professor Nolan, from the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland, focused his research on macular pigment for vision health and function, as well as how to use macular pigment as a biomarker for brain nutrition and its connection to cognitive function and Alzheimer’s disease.
‘It is a tremendous honour for me to accept this award from Heidelberg Engineering, which is a result of over two-decades of work studying this nutritional pigment in the eye,’ Professor Nolan said.
The Xtreme Research award lecture, which usually takes place at Arvo, will be delivered by Professor Nolan during a webinar on May 13.
