Laser eye company Ultralase has claimed the sector is booming in the UK after it more than tripled its staff numbers in the space of a year.
The Leeds-based business has grown its staff from 32 in August last year to 102 now. These full and part-time workers are employed in the companyÕs 20 clinics.
Earlier this year Ultralase commissioned market research to look at the size of the potential market for laser treatment.
A survey found that of those 30 million adults in the UK who wear vision correction, 37 per cent did not reject the idea of laser eye treatment.
An Ultralase spokesman said that although a significant number of these people would prove unsuitable for treatment, Ôthe potential [market] is still vastÕ.
