Hilco in the US has acquired Sadler Brothers of Attleboro, Massachusetts, a neighbouring supplier of hand tools, equipment, parts and supplies for eyewear manufacturing, processing and dispensing.

Hilco said the addition would strengthen its professional accessories product line.

Sadler was founded in 1863 as a jewellery manufacturer and in the 1920s it evolved into an eyewear component manufacturer. It has been operated by the Sadler family for six generations.

Its CEO, Tom Sadler, will join Hilco to assist in the next stage of Hilco's growth.

In 2007 Hilco also acquired Franel Optical, Optical Warehouse and industrial eyewear supplier OnGuard Safety.
