Professor Rajiv Raman receives Honorary Doctor of Health Sciences award

Retinal specialist Professor Rajiv Raman has received an Honorary Doctor of Health Sciences award from Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).

Professor Raman was appointed medical director of the Choithram Nethralaya Hospital in Indore in 2012 and has been developing a deep learning based automated retinopathy referral algorithm with Google.

Vice chancellor of the university Professor Roderick Watkins said: ‘As one of the leading researchers in diabetic retinopathy he will be instrumental in enabling ARU to expand our collaborative activities across India and worldwide. As an outstanding researcher and pioneer, and one of Asia’s most innovative retinal specialists, Professor Raman will be an inspirational role model for our researchers and students of medicine and vision sciences.’
