The International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) has announced the winners of its first Contact Lens Educator of the Year awards.
Supported by the BCLA and sponsored in this first year by CooperVision, the IACLE Europe, Africa, Middle East Contact Lens Educator of the Year went to Dr Eef van der Worp, affiliated with the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
A presentation is to follow at an IACLE session at the BCLA conference in Birmingham next month, while IACLE will also hold an education day at Aston University prior to the conference on June 5.
IACLE president Dr Shehzad Naroo said: ‘The Educator awards are new for 2014 and are a great accolade. The winners were difficult to choose and were based on their contributions to contact lens education over many years. We’re also proud to be able to offer the IACLE Travel Award again this year. The standard of applicants was very high.
