Skipping opticians’ check ups risks sight loss, says hospital

Practice Plus Group has urged people with eye health concerns to visit their optician regularly as part of National Eye Health Week (NEHW).

The independent hospital group highlighted the need for early detection to avoid preventable sight loss and noted that two million people in the UK are living with sight loss which significantly impacts their daily lives.

Charles Kavanati, Practice Plus Group consultant ophthalmologist, said: ‘You should regularly monitor your vision – looking for blurry, distorted, or blank spots in your field of vision, and get regular eye exams with an optician or ophthalmologist.’

To support NEHW, the Practice Plus Group ophthalmology team is hosting an eye health open day on September 28 in Rochdale.
