Hoya boss moves on

Hoya Lens UK's managing director Steve Ellis will be leaving the Wrexham-based business in January 2007 to take up a new business opportunity.

Hoya's finance director, Stephen Ramsay, will become acting managing director until a successor is appointed.

Since joining Hoya in 2001, Ellis led the restructure and expansion of Hoya's UK business, including the transfer of mass production to Thailand, relocation of the company's Rx processing business and more recently expansion of the facility to include high-volume production of glazed product.

Commenting on the progress, Ellis said: 'Hoya has made great strides over recent years, making the necessary changes in its facility, organisation and product range to take a dominant and growing market position.
