Hoya's 1.74 high-index lens Eyvia has won an international iF Material Award 2011, announced at the International Forum Design Awards in Hannover.
The awards have run since 2005 and are described as an important barometer in materials, with a judging panel of experts selecting products of proven material technology. Fifty-nine participants from 16 countries competed this year, from many different product sectors, with Eyvia being praised for its 'outstanding optical qualities and lightweight, ultra-thin properties'.
The lens, launched at the beginning of the year, is combined with Hoya's iD Freeform lens designs and the Hi-Vision LongLife coating, and is targeted at patients with higher plus or minus powers.
