Hoya targets sports market

Firm launches a range of wrapped lenses in a selection of base curves

Hoya has introduced a range of wrapped lenses in a selection of base curves, tints and surface treatments to suit different sporting activities.

The Sportive high curved sports lenses and Special Sphere tints are based around two families of lenses: Nulux Sportive for single vision and Hoyalux Sportive for progressive designs.

Hoya has promoted the lenses as a must for serious sports enthusiasts and highlighted the benefits of a curved lens in protecting the eyes against, wind, dust and glare. As the lenses are surfaced on six or eight base they are suitable for glazing into a variety of frame designs and offer a wide field of vision.

The Special Sphere tints are available in green, orange, yellow, copper, brown and purple, and offer light enhancing properties suited to a range of sports and light conditions. These can be doubled up with Hoya mirror coatings in gold, silver and blue finishes.

The lenses are available in plastic at 1.5 index, PNX 1.53 and Eyas 1.6. Both lenses are available in powers between -4.00 and +4.00 with a maximum cylindrical power of 4.00. Progressive powers range from 0.75 to 2.50 with a corridor length of 14mm. Both are available in blank diameters of 75mm and 95mm.

The lenses will be available from July 1.
