Hughes attacks GOC's attitude to students

Association of Optometrists chief executive Bob Hughes has criticised the attitude of the GOC to students and the high number of fitness to practise cases that are being brought against them.

Responding to a question on what the profession was doing to protect the future of students, at The Vision Care Institute's Question Time event, Hughes said: 'I hope that now the GOC is under new management it will review its work. What has been the case regrettably is an attitude towards students where I think people have forgotten what they were like as students or what their children were like as students.'
