Responding to a question on what the profession was doing to protect the future of students, at The Vision Care Institute's Question Time event, Hughes said: 'I hope that now the GOC is under new management it will review its work. What has been the case regrettably is an attitude towards students where I think people have forgotten what they were like as students or what their children were like as students.'
