IAPB World Sight Day photo winners

‘The Artist’, by Santanu Bose, was selected as the ‘Professional photo of the year’  in the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) World Sight Day 2023 photo competition.

‘The Smile of Happiness', by Marisa Martins Armada was also announced as the winning amateur ‘Photo of the year’ in the competition, which attracted nearly a thousand images from dozens of countries.

Caroline Casey, IABP president and one of the six-strong international judging panel, said: ‘These pictures show how we can help people with visual needs and encourage everyone to take good care of their eyes.

‘It helps more people, including policy makers, understand why taking care of our eyes must be a priority.’
