A new implant using what was billed as 'the world's smallest telescope' has been launched.
The implant allowed functionally blind patients with age-related macular degeneration to improve vision, according to CentraSight.
A statement said its programme, which has been FDA approved and CE-marked, was the only surgical option clinically proven to improve visual acuity in patients with central vision impairment caused by end-stage AMD.
The procedure was only available privately and not on the NHS, the company added.
