Dunelm Optical said it has noticed an increase in demand for sports sun frames as result of major sporting events such as the Winter Olympics, Formula One and MotoGP.
Peter Beaumont, director at Dunelm, said: ‘Interest in performance-oriented sunwear has surged in recent years, and participation in outdoor activities such as skiing and cycling has also increased significantly. Durable, lightweight and no-slip components are vital, but consumers are also demanding fashionable styles as worn by their favourite sports stars.’
To capitalise on the interest, Dunlem said it had introduced a number of sports influenced sunglass styles, including the Retro Sport Sun 2 (pictured) – which sports a wraparound shape and on-trend mirrored lenses.
