Rae & Rae Opticians has been shortlisted as a finalist in the micro business of the year category for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Celebrating Small Business Awards in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The York-based practice is led by mother and daughter duo, Tracey and Georgia Rae, and was named Fashion Practice of the Year at the Optician Awards in December, 2021.
As well as the independent’s win at the Optician Awards, dispensing optician at the practice, Lesley Collins, was shortlisted in the Dispensing Optician of the Year category.
Speaking about their win at the Optician Awards and FSB nomination, Georgia said: ‘To get national recognition from such a prestigious and respected industry publication as Optician magazine, particularly considering the record number of entries, truly was the icing on the cake of a challenging but amazingly rewarding first year for Rae & Rae in 2021. Fingers crossed we can carry that success over to 2022 and the FSB awards.’
The FSB awards celebrate businesses with fewer than 10 employees and those who have demonstrated service that stands above competitors.
Regional category winners will be invited to the UK final, which be held in Glasgow in May, with the chance to be named UK small business of the year.
