Retinal imaging company Optos donated over £11,000 ($17,500) as part of recent World Sight Day (WSD) fundraising. The Scottish eye specialist gave $1 from every optomap it performed on patients during WSD on October 13. Optos chief executive Roy Davis said: 'As a global company focused on protecting eyesight, Optos is proud to help raise awareness about preventing blindness by participating in the World Sight Day 'Company' Challenge.'

Interiors firm Lynx IDG has invited practice owners to an open week at its updated design centre and showroom in Hyde, Cheshire. Lynx said the showings would take place from December 5-9 and that numbers were limited. Interested parties can call 0800 387287 to book a place.

Luxottica has revealed it is in talks with Giorgio Armani over the licence agreement to produce the designer's eyewear collections. Armani's current deal with Safilo ends in 2012 and Luxottica CEO Andrea Guerra confirmed it had been in talks with Armani over a new deal which could see them rekindle their working relationship. A decision on the Armani licence could be made by the end of the year. The announcement followed the publication of Luxottica's 2011 Q3 financial figures, which showed a 9.1 per cent rise in income - the eighth consecutive quarter it had shown an increase in sales.
