Data dominated debate on the second day of the National Optical Conference in Birmingham last week and delegates were keen to know to whom the data would be made available.

Richard Knight, head of policy at Locsu, and Trevor Warburton, Locsu representative, gave a presentation on the data repository for community services. This initiative will form a database that will be able to seek data from all NHS sources in an anonymised manner. This will add to the body of evidence on the sector, delegates heard.

This will allow better services to be offered to patients and better bids to be built when services are commissioned.
