Inspecs in celebratory mood after 15 years in eyewear

Bath-based frame company Inspecs has just celebrated its 15th anniversary with a party for staff and guests at its country headquarters.

The company moved from its offices in Queenstown Road in London's Battersea at the end of 2001 to Farleigh House in 130 acres of Somerset parkland, with a logistics centre two miles away.
The company started out with the deregulation of the optical market in the late 1980s as the UK distributor of the Jean Paul Gaultier collection. Now Inspecs covers the full spectrum of design, manufacturing, wholesale and optical retailing, with brands ranging from French Connection to Speedo and Austin Reed.
Managing director Robin Totterman said, 'We have gone on to become one of the most successful eyewear companies in the UK, employing over 200 people in three continents. We have built a great team and they continue to help us build our business.'
He added that the company first exhibited at Optrafair 15 years ago, with two of the first female sales representatives in the industry, manning a 3m by 3m stand, 'with accompanying dry ice and house music'.
Totterman said that Inspecs' values were still as strong today as 15 years ago, treating others Ð staff and customers Ð as you would have them treat you.
The anniversary was marked with an afternoon of team games for employees, and an evening of celebrations for staff and their partners that included a free raffle with prizes from Inspecs' licensors.
Chris Smith, commercial director and joint founder of the company with Totterman, added: 'From the days of a small office in Queenstown Road to the beautiful setting near Bath, it seemed obvious to hold our celebrations here, not only just to appreciate what we have, but also to remind us how far we have come in 15 years.'Bath-based frame company Inspecs has just celebrated its 15th anniversary with a party for staff and guests at its country headquarters.
