Dollond & Aitchison's assistant regional manager for professional services, Mr Bryan has been chosen to succeed Michael Banes. Mr Bryan has been a trustee of the Institute for six years, and was for 15 years a member of the voluntary supervisory staff. He is chairman of the Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham LOC, and his wife, Susan Williams, is joint chief executive of the Barking, Dagenham and Havering Health Authority. Four optometrists are also joining the Institute's part-time staff. Susan Cowling, who has helped at the Institute's evening clinics, works for D&A at its practice in Beckenham, Kent. Carmelo Castiglioni is an independent practitioner who has been an evening clinic supervisor at the Institute for three years. Milan Patel is a self-employed locum optometrist. Roger Walling, a University of Melbourne graduate who has previously worked in Zimbabwe and Australia, is currently taking a postgraduate diploma in advanced clinical optometry.
