IP milestone for Urquhart

Urquhart Opticians in Ayrshire, Scotland, has celebrated becoming one of Scotland’s most qualified independent optometry groups.

Five optometrists at the group are now qualified in independent prescribing (IP), with clinical director Alistair Duffy the most recent practitioner to receive his qualification.

An IP Diploma allows eye care medication prescriptions to be issued directly by the practitioner, without extra GP or hospital appointments.

Duffy commented: ‘This is a considerable achievement for Urquhart Opticians and reflects our focus on delivering the highest possible standards of patient care.’

Urquhart’s sixth optometrist, Carol Semple, is also now studying for the qualification.
