IPRO will hold an event in London next month to demonstrate, what it describes, as a revolutionary 3D sight testing system that makes the eye exam fun, faster and more accurate.

The UK branch of the German software company, is inviting practitioners to an event on March 10 where it will reveal details of its PASKAL 3D sight testing software. The system is downloaded onto an iPAD, which is displayed onto a 3D TV via Apple TV, using wi-fi. The system is already used by 500 practices across Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is claimed to be suitable for 90 per cent of sight tests. The developers said the system, although distributed by IPRO, is independent of  any practice management system.

PASKAL is the brainchild of  lens expert Dieter Kalder, who has worked for American Optical and Rodenstock and Fritz Passman. Passman, at the time Head of Department of Optometry, teaching at the Education Centre of the Chamber of Crafts in Dortmund, met Kalder at a  conference in 2012 and the two decided to work together on PASKAL which they later  took to IPRO.

‘We know that we do the sight test more accurately with this concept and can increase the spontaneous tolerance of progressive lenses considerably, said  Passmann and Kalder. That was the main thing. They said 3D effects developed incidentally but then turned into a key feature.

The presentation will be held at a Central London location on March 10 at 6pm, email j.greenslade@iprouk.com or call 07713 113476 to reserve a place.
