The annual conference of the Irish Contact Lens Society (ICLS) attracted nearly 100 delegates this year.
The meeting, held every October for the past 15 years, has been an opportunity for contact lens practitioners of all experience to meet up, socialise, and enjoy a variety of lectures and workshops. 'We were very pleased with the attendance,' confirmed education officer Mary Eustace. 'The event is open to all, north or south of the border, and non-members, even from the mainland UK would be welcome to attend.'
The event began with a James Bond theme with Caroline Christie (London) and Ron Beerten (Netherlands) parading their best Moneypenny and Connery attire while demonstrating the best way to fit and assess soft multifocals (Beerten has been instrumental in the design of such lenses). The lecture included a live slit lamp demonstration which was very well received.
