Hampshire optometrist Fiona Bosher is officially the 60th fastest woman in the world in her age group over the half Ironman triathlon distance.

Last weekend she competed in the world ironman 70.3 championships in Florida completing the course in 5hr 36mins and 9 secs. This comprised of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile cycle and then a 13.1 mile run. Bosher won her qualifying slot at the world championships in Clearwater after competing as part of the Oakley Transitions Ironman team in the Monaco ironman 70.3.

On completing the race Bosher said: ' I am so pleased with my times,60th in the world.' Despite the good result Bosher suffered a setback just days before the race.' Both Bosher and her husband were struck down with a severe tummy bug after drinking tap water while on a training ride. 'I swore that I would be able to race, there was no way I could miss this opportunity.'

Kees Saton, ( if you use that picture) the Dutch Oakley Transitions Ironman team member, also competed in Clearwater finishing in 4hrs and 46 mins.
