Jet lag sunglasses help body clock tick

Jet lag sufferers could soon be helped by a vision device which is attached to sunglasses, it has been reported.
A team from Flinders University in Adelaide claim they have developed a prototype which, they believe, stops the physical and mental fatigue associated with long haul flights to different time zones.
Wearing the Ôglowing spectaclesÕ for a couple of hours before and during flights helps the human clock to adjust more easily.
The device uses light to stimulate the brain, turning the body clock backwards or forwards.
Battery powered light emitting diodes are fitted to a pair of sunglasses and the diodes emit blue and green light.
As light triggers the production of hormones managing the body clock, the device can be used to help the travellerÕs body clock to be asleep or awake.
Dr Leon Lack, of Flinders UniversityÕs centre for neuroscience, told optician that field studies and future commercial availability for the device would come when a commercial partner stepped forward.
