J&J cuts 10 tons of plastic

Plastic pouches used for delivery notes removed from its Acuvue range

Johnson & Johnson Vision will save an estimated 10 tons of plastic by removing the external pouches used for delivery notes on its Acuvue range.

Plastic pouches have been replaced with stickers bearing information for patients on European orders and the UK will follow in the next two months with delivery notes inside orders.

Jacqueline Henderson, vice president for EMEA at the company’s vision care division, said: ‘It may seem like a small step, but it’s significant – even minimal changes to day-to-day processes can make a huge impact in the long run.’

Johnson & Johnson Vision set a net zero target for 2030 with plans to cut its carbon footprint, reduce waste and limit the use of natural resources.
