J&J files patents for contact lens advances

Johnson & Johnson files numerous patents in the US for future contact lens developments

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care in the US has filed and been issued with a number of patents in recent months for contact lenses of the future.

The IPWatchdog publication said that 'of the many patents issued recently to Johnson & Johnson, most have been assigend to its visual care subsidiary to protect more improvements to visual aids'. Patent number 20140118683, filed under Contact lens with improved fitting characteristics, was for the manufacture of a contact lens design with an altered outer edge planarity, described as allowing the creation of personalised contact lenses for improved vision enhancement and comfort for the consumer.
