Johnson & Johnson is improving the benefits provided through its Acuvue Centre of Excellence (ACE) programme in a bid to improve the business of participants. A suite of extra benefits has been added to boost sales and educate practitioners. The five main benefits include exclusive branding for Acuvue Centre of Excellence practices in Acuvue Advance with Hydraclear TV advertising, point-of-sale display equipment, training and a website to drive patients to participating practices. The training course will be offered to practice staff to enable them to improve their contact lens skills and knowledge. This will be augmented by a CD-Rom providing distance learning. Later in the year practices will also benefit from the opening of a Vision Care Insititute for Europe, a European version of the J&J VCI in Jacksonville, US. Marketing manager for the UK and Ireland Henning Reichardt said extra benefits of being an ACE practice showed J&J's commitment to its customers and would help those practices grow their business. Marc Karbaron of Optix@Broadgate in London said he was looking forward to the launch of the benefits that would help improve his business. Karbaron said he was already fitting Acuvue lenses before deciding to join the Centre of Excellence programme. A major benefit of being an ACE practice was the ability to offer high quality products and source them at a competitive price. In return for the additional help, ACE practices must reach sales targets agreed with their Acuvue account manager and display point-of-sale materials prominently.
