J&J capitalises on success of contact lens

Johnson & Johnson has capitalised on the known comfort benefits of its Acuvue Oasys contact lens with the launch of a daily disposable version of the product.

Acuvue Oasys 1-Day with HydraLuxe Technology is billed as a contact lens for wearers with demanding days. At a pre-launch event in March practitioners pioneering the lens through their practices were told that understanding how the tear film reacts throughout the day in difficult conditions was key to developing the product. Giovanni Abruzzini, general manager UK and Ireland told delegates they were the first people in the world to have the lens outside of the US and highlighted the scale of discontinuation of wear. ’Someone drops out of contact lenses every 30 seconds,’ he said.
