Joyful pensioner cleans up on social media

An 86-year-old cleaner who has put the sparkle into a Hull optician’s for more than 30 years has become a social media hit.

Joyce Stephenson, who is deaf and lip reads, has cleaned Valli Opticians (formerly Henry J Rose Optometrist) for 33 years and is much loved by staff.

Valli Group managing director Moin Valli, who says he likes to make Stephenson a cup of tea when he goes to the practice, asked staff to put her up on Google Plus as acknowledgement of all her hard work and loyalty to the company over three decades. The cleaning lady received so much positive feedback she also now appears on Facebook and Twitter as well.
