After two years at its prestigious central London Conduit Street location, British frame brand Kirk Originals has announced the closure of its flagship practice.
The decision was announced on Twitter last week, with a 'huge' clearance sale lined up.
On the closure, Kirk Originals managing director Jason Kirk told Optician: 'Trading conditions are challenging and we have had to examine all aspects of our business to streamline them and emphasise the most productive elements. Retail is important but we needed to review the format and location in which it was presented.'
Responding to questions over the future of the eyewear side of the business, Kirk added: 'Inevitably people ask questions about the state of the business in general. On April 22, Kirk Originals celebrated 21 years in the optical industry. Karen [his wife] and I remain as ambitious and hungry as ever and love creating innovation in the world of eyewear.'
