LED lights could increase cancer risk

Exposure to LEDs in streetlights may double the risk of developing cancer

Exposure to parts of the blue light spectrum emitted by LEDs in streetlights may double the risk of developing breast and prostate cancer, new research has found.

Research teams at the University of Exeter and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health said blue light emitted by the LED lights could be disrupting the body’s circadian rhythms, which had an impact on hormone levels.
