
Leightons and the Hearing Care Partnership was piloting its Empathic Consulting Course, which was developed to offer a new approach to improving patient care.
Claire Vernon, learning and development manager and co-creator of the training programme with Beth Newbould, explained: ‘We recognised a significant gap in training for the softer, more interpersonal skills that are just as vital as technical skills.
‘After a successful roll-out in audiology, we’re excited to now collaborate with dispensing opticians to trial the programme.’
The training consisted of three key workshops inspired by psychology and communication experts.
