Lindberg picks up design award

Danish eyewear manufacturer Lindberg has won the Danish Design Prize 2000 for the most recent addition to its collection.

The judges said Lindberg's Sirius Titanium sports sunglasses were 'an elegant and extremely well thought-out sunglasses concept. 'Without screws, welds or rivets, the construction is both strong and simple. The variety of anti-reflex coated lenses has been integrated in a very harmonious way. It has been made possible to adjust the sunglasses to suit the customer's specific requirements.' The company said the frame followed the curve of the face which minimised the light and air intake. The silicone nosepads are flexible and temples variable to allow the frames to be adjusted to the patient's face and remain in place. The lenses are anti-reflection coated and are available in four colours. This is the 15th international design award Lindberg has won in the past 10 years. Sirius Titanium sunglasses are worn by the Danish Sirius sledge patrol against the strong sunlight as they travel across vast expanses of snow. Danish helmsman Jesper Bank and his crew tested the frames at the match race world championships in Copenhagen last year and the Soiling European championships in La Rochelle this year.
