Lions Club International, the worldwide service organisation, has launched a national campaign to raise awareness of the need for regular eye tests.The Lions Eye Health Programme is encouraging member clubs UK-wide to work with eye care professionals and charities to achieve this objective.
The launch comes at a time when the Government has tasked the NHS Modernisation Agency with developing care pathways for eye diseases.
Andrew Kent, director of eye care services for the NHS Modernisation Agency (pictured above) said: 'The NHS is changing and we want to make sure services are faster, better and more effective for the people who use them and deliver them.'
The Countess of Wessex, the new patron of Lions of the UK, attended the launch.
