Locked cabinets fail 'Queen of Shops' test

A Sunglass Hut outlet came under the scrutiny of self-styled 'Queen of Shops' Mary Portas with her 'mystery shopper' visit to the chain's Milton Keynes branch on the aptly titled Sunset Walk.

Portas, star of the recent BBC Two series Mary Queen of Shops and a renowned authority on retail display, gave the shop's locked cabinets a thumbs down in her review published recently in the Daily Telegraph (July 21).

'I know there are dodgy types out there but why keep all the stock inside locked cabinets? When they're open, an assistant stands beside them, which in turn makes you feel pressurised for a decision. Isn't it possible to leave a few styles out to try at your leisure?' she wrote.
