Four committees look at forming a Primary Eyecare Company

Local Optical Committees from East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset met last month to discuss forming a Primary Eyecare Company.

The exploratory meeting was held at the Locsu head office in London, being used as a place for LOCs to meet for the first time.

Locsu head of communications Chris McGachy said: ‘We are gearing up this service to reflect how NHS services are commissioned under sustainability and transformation partnerships. The hospital service is struggling and eye care services make up the second biggest outpatient department in the UK.’

Primary Eyecare Companies have already been set up in West Midlands and Greater Manchester.
