LOCSU hosts National Optical Conference

Delegates at the National Optical Conference 2023

The Local Optical Committee Support Unit’s (LOCSU) National Optical Conference (NOC) attracted ‘bumper numbers’ last week at Wyboston Lakes in Bedfordshire.

Some 263 delegates heard updates on a range of optics including information on a standard service specification for minor and urgent eyecare for England, presented by Zoe Richmond and Wojciech Karwatowski.

NHS England chief strategy officer Chris Hopson delivered a keynote address and professor James Kingsland discussed the importance of local optometric committees (LOCs) and regional work to amplify national strategies for improved patient outcomes.

More than 20 different workshops were also available at the event on November 13-14, giving delegates the opportunity to ‘build their own conference’.

LOCSU CEO Janice Foster hoped everyone had ‘enjoyed the conference and found it useful’ and advised that the recorded workshops and sessions would be available to view in due course.
