LOCSU added that there was a growing track record of delivering existing re-commissioned services for optical practices in the past 12 months. It said that 11 regional LOC companies were having a growing impact, covering 39 LOCs and providing the scale, the models and the data to deliver community services for the benefit of patients and assisting clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in fulfilling their objectives.
The new report said 84 services worth more than £3m had been procured in the past year, with 22 entirely new services. Seventy-six of the 81 LOCs now have at least one community service and LOC companies have 53 contracts in place with CCGs.
